Let's think back 5 years and 3 months ago... baby Wesley was born into the world. This most perfect little human being had us wrapped around his little finger. We "thought" we were so tired but yet I still wore make-up, the house was still clean and I dressed Wesley up in perfect little outfits (including hats and shoes) every single day... Clearly, I wasn't tired at all but I was no longer able to do what I wanted, when I wanted. I was now a Mom - Big difference. I remember thinking about school/ kindergarten like it was some futuristic plan... But the day is here now, my first born had his first day at Kindergarten.
Wesley was quite anxious throughout the summer. Everyone talking about kindergarten ALL DAY made him think he was going to be dropped off there after breakfast and picked up after bathtime. Poor guy! Little does he know, I could never handle it if I only saw him for 1 hour a day...
He was excited this morning, he is happy to be seeing his friends again... I kid you not, he grew up today... we discovered 2 wiggly teeth this evening, bringing on the jack-o-lantern smile just in time for Halloween! But what shocked me tonight, after he had gone to bed, he could hear his brother Myles crying because he was missing his favorite toy and couldn't go to sleep without it. As I was in Myles' bedroom comforting him, Wesley turned the house upside down and didn't stop looking until he found it. Without being asked, Wesley came to the rescue of his brother... at that moment, I felt very proud, it reaffirmed our parenting techniques are working... Wesley truly has the biggest heart of any human beings I have met so far.
"The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson
